Privacy
Wordknots is a free word game that works without an account. It collects game and device information to run the game, keep your games in sync across your devices, compare results between players, and improve Wordknots. By using Wordknots, you agree to this policy.
What Wordknots collects
Gameplay information, such as the puzzles you play, the words you find and the order you find them, your times, scores, and extra-word credit, and when you play.
An anonymous identifier for each device, created when you open Wordknots and kept in a first-party cookie and your browser storage. It is not your name or email address.
Information you choose to provide, such as a display name, linked devices, friends, challenges, invites, shared results, and notification subscriptions.
Technical information that browsers and networks send, such as IP address, browser and device type, approximate location, and pages and features used.
Wordknots also stores progress, preferences, and notification history in your browser so the game can resume and remember your choices.
How it is used and shared
Wordknots uses this information to operate the game, sync your progress and found words across linked devices, show your results and how they compare with other players, run friends, challenges, and notifications, understand how the game is played, fix problems, and improve and promote Wordknots.
Your results may be combined with other players’ results to produce statistics, rankings, and comparisons. Aggregated or de-identified information may be shown to other players, shared, or published.
People you play with through friends, challenges, or shared links can see your display name, activity, and results for the games you share with them.
Information may be kept for as long as it is useful for these purposes, and may be disclosed if required by law or to protect Wordknots and its players.
Analytics
Wordknots uses Umami Cloud for usage analytics. It receives page and gameplay events along with standard browser and network information. Wordknots does not respond to browser Do Not Track signals.
Service providers
Wordknots uses service providers to run the game, currently including Cloudflare for hosting, storage, and delivery, Umami Cloud for analytics, and your browser’s push service for notifications. They process information on Wordknots’ behalf, and information may be processed in the United States.
Your choices
You can clear Wordknots data in your browser settings, which removes local progress and the identifier on that device; information already sent may be kept. You can turn off notifications in Settings or in your browser. Content blockers may prevent analytics from loading.
Wordknots is not directed to children under 13.
Changes to this policy
Wordknots may update this policy at any time by posting a new version on this page. Continuing to use Wordknots after an update means the updated policy applies.
